When baby goes away for the weekend

My husbands parents came to visit from the East Coast and boy am I going to miss their company. They took Athena away for the weekend and so we were baby (toddler) free for 48 hours.

We got to bing watch all the movies we had missed in theaters. We got to eat all our favourite snack without having to share. We got to go out for breakfast and actually eat at the same time. I got a much needed hair cut. It was so nice not to have to schedule everything around Athena’s nap time etc.

I honestly could not remember what I used to do in my spare time before baby. Like I had no clue what to do with myself. It was the weirdest feeling because I was still on Athena’s clock.

Like what did I do before I became a mom? Do you remember your life before baby? Do you miss it?

The Pacifier

When Athena was a newborn till 1 year old the pacifier was great but now its a nightmare. I am ready to burn that thing!

She does not use it at day care which is great but at home she knows how to play us and get it. She needs it to sleep but other then that she does not need it.  She is a talker but with her pacifier we can’t hear her words and it’s all muffled; it drives me nuts. Worse when she looses it and we have to search the whole house.

We have one left and honestly when that one goes missing that is it, no more! I have spend so much on new pacifiers in the last 2 years it is crazy. Just can’t wait till it’s over.

We call the pacifier a gookie, like cookie but with a G. What do you call call yours?

Do you have pacifier stories? Any tips or tricks?

Up and ready to roll

How does my toddler have so much energy? The moment her eyes open at 6:30am she is off! Like pulling the covers off me, telling me I’m stuck and need to get up and go get a snack aka breakfast. Like child of mine please let me open my eyes first!

During the week she goes to daycare. So waking up that early is hard some days but on weekends its like there is no problem. She jumps out of bed and wants to play. I have resorted to giving her something in bed, like an Eggo and putting on Paw Patrol just for me to wake up on a Saturday morning.

I miss those lazy mornings where you could lay in bed and just do what you pleased at your own pace. Oh how parenthood changes it all.

She is going to regret the days she can no longer sleep in and I can’t wait till I can!

How do you handle your children waking up? Do you miss sleeping in like me? Let me know 🙂
